Overview

Mechanical Engineer 

 

As a member of the NTM engineering team, you will work closely with the skilled people that run the CNC milling machines and lathes, weld the frames, assemble the forming stations, and set-up and test the machines prior to delivery.  The Service, Training, Sales, and Supply Chain teams are collocated with Manufacturing and Engineering allowing for immediate feedback from the folks that use the machine and our suppliers.  NTM is committed to providing a durable quality machine to our customers.

Responsibilities

  1. Engineering and design of product improvements and new products in a collaborative environment
  2. Analysis of technical requirements, problem solving, and driving implementation of the solution
  3. Responsible for creating engineering designs and documents that are accurate, correct, and always helpful
  4. Perform engineering calculations (frame deflection, size machine drives, etc.)
  5. Work directly with NTM Engineering’s internal and external customers to provide the right solution
  6. Design for functionality, manufacturing, assembly, service, and quality
  7. Creation and processing of all engineering documents (drawings, bill of material, releases, engineering standards, machine specifications, engineering change requests, etc.)
  8. Attend and hold reviews to evaluate engineering designs and provide constructive feedback
  9. Coordinate engineering changes with production control, supply chain, and manufacturing
  10. Evaluate the suitability of alternately sourced components
  11. Responsible for meeting schedules and communicating effectively within the organization
  12. Directly responsible for debugging, testing, and documenting prototype parts and machines
  13. Attend trade shows to gain industry knowledge, as well as represent the Company to potential customers
  14. Become Subject Matter Expert in Portable Roll Forming machine design
  15. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is also usually required, but in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement.

 

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in component / machine design is required
  • Willingness to learn and share best practices is required
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles is critical
  • 3D CAD experience is essential (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
  • Knowledge of steel and aluminum fabrication practices and material properties is desired
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is desired
  • Must have a quality driven mindset (first article inspection, root cause analysis, process flow, etc.)
  • Rollforming experience beneficial, but not required
  • Excellent math skills and overall computer literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to complete multiple tasks
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify

Compensation

$75,000 - $105,000 based upon experience
