Overview

Operations Manager

 

The Operations Manager will demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, utilizing Lean Six Sigma Principles for continuous improvement to train, motivate and engage employees that will define a standard of Operational Excellence of a Sales Driven Organization.

Responsibilities

  1. Review production schedules, process flow, data, and activities
  2. Produce products and deliver services with maximum efficiency
  3. Perform cost benefit analysis, ROI, and monitor overhead to assist the financial planning process to exceed the yearly budget
  4. Design and implement control systems to coordinate activities and production planning to ensure products meet industry standards
  5. Communicate with internal/external partners about product specifications, purchasing, and current production capabilities.
  6. Maintain communication with management personnel on lean project status.
  7. With demonstrated leadership skills, use performance management to evaluate staff/employees, quarterly, yearly and in real time for course correction
  8. Focus on workflow while balancing many factors including production time, labor requirement, course of action, product quality optimization, removing obstacles, using technology, ERP system, all other tools and resources
  9. Utilizing Lean Six Sigma Principles, find ways to reduce waste, improve production efficiencies to meet On Time Delivery and other Production Metrics.
  10. Ensure and maintain employees’ safety and environmental concerns
  11. Oversee and perform cycle counting; ensure the accuracy of the inventory for the organization
  12. Oversee shop equipment and preventative maintenance schedules
  13. Understand and implement the 5s Visual Management System
  14. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Industrial Engineering or related discipline; In the absence of a degree, directly-related job experience serving in a management role in a manufacturing facility, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement

 

Experience & Skills

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (black belt a plus) or Lean training, with excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in conflict resolution, direct labor utilization, budgeting, maintaining equipment, maintenance schedules of mission critical equipment
  • Ability to identify bottlenecks and determine effective solutions
  • Ability to identify cost savings strategies and implement promptly and effectively
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
