  • Overview

    The Draftsman creates technical drawings based on given specifications and calculations. The draftsman incorporates specifications into drawings and plans that may be used in the manufacture, maintenance or repair of the product or structure.
    The Draftsmen uses CAD systems to create, save and view their drawings and plans. 


    1. Perform necessary structural calculations required to design Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices in accordance with ASME BTH-1-2011 and ASME B30.20
    2. Review technical documentation and data from customer and outside sales representatives to determine if all required information is available to adequately design the lifting device
    3. Serve as the primary point of contact for outside sales representatives in need of technical information
    4. Utilize Solidworks to create 3D CAD Models and drawings complete with detailed dimensional and BOM information
    5. Manage multiple projects from concept thru completion including, but not limited to, engineering design, manufacturing drawings, providing purchasing information, communication with outside vendors, and technical guidance during fabrication and assembly
    6. Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, outside sales representative, and cross-departmental team members
    7. Travel to customer site locations to review lifting requirements and gather critical application information
    8. Participate in daily engineering and production meetings and provide support as necessary
    9. Participate in industry trade shows and committee meetings
    10. Work directly with design engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings and electronic images
    11. Calculate tolerance stack-ups to verify design fit-up
    12. Design parts based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers
    13. Work closely with all departments in the plant to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free
    14. Work from customer drawings, company drawings, government drawings or specifications
    15. Other duties as assigned



    A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate Engineering degree from an accredited college or university

    Experience & Skills

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering role
    • Experience in Solidworks, AutoCAD and an ERP system strongly preferred
    • Possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards (ASME and OSHA)
    • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
    • Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required
    • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) is required
    • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
    • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
